The Witch by Edilberto K. Tiempo
Analysis A twelve year old boy went to Libas, where Minggay Awok, the speculated as a notorious witch, lived. She lived in a small low hut nearby the creek separating the barrios of Libas and Sinit-an. Her strange apperance and solitary life feared people of Libas and the sorrounding Barrios. Whenever strange things happened, they always blame to her. They tried to murder her in oder to stop the curse of allegedly place on them but in mysterious ways, she always come out unharmed. One day, a boy who sometimes visit his Uncle he met the old woman while fishing in the creek. She had been considerate to direct him to spot where he can get shrimps. They talk for a while until the boy finally realized that the mere old lady was the witch that everyone is talking about. He emmediately walked away and detached the string of shrimps from his belt except for the three for those are not belonged to Minggay. Angrily he throw away those shrips back in the river.
